How to Set Up Your Trezor®
- Go to the official site: Visit https://trezor.io/start in your browser. Choose your device model to begin the guided setup process.
- Download Trezor Suite: The Trezor Suite is the official app used to interact with your hardware wallet. Install it on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
- Connect your device: Plug your Trezor into your computer using the USB cable. Open Trezor Suite and wait for the device to be detected.
- Install firmware: For security, Trezor devices ship without firmware. Trezor Suite will prompt you to install the latest firmware version.
- Create a new wallet or recover: If you're new, select "Create a new wallet." If restoring a previous wallet, choose "Recover wallet" and enter your 12- or 24-word recovery seed using the device screen.
- Backup your recovery seed: Your Trezor will display a unique list of words — your recovery seed. Write it down by hand and store it safely offline. Never store it digitally.
- Set a PIN: Create a secure PIN to protect your device from unauthorized access.
